People who like tinkering around something with determination often excel in that field. Entrepreneur Saurabh Mittal, his sharp business acumen and yen for innovation, technology has led Greenlam Industries Limited to become the national leader and among the third largest in laminate industry globally. His wife Parul Mittal, a director of the company helps the company in product design and marketing. The duo’s relentless effort has taken the Greenlam in a different level.
An alumnus of Mayo College Ajmer and commerce graduate from the University of Madras Saurabh married Parul in 1992 who belonged to Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh. Both studied in the same college and met through a common friend. “It was love at first sight,” smiles Parul. Single parent child Parul lost her mother at the age of four. Her father who was a senior cop in UP raised her. When the marriage was fixed, Parul was very nervous initially because she was not used to large family. But her apprehension disappeared when she met Saurabh’s mother and received family’s deep affection. “My mother–in-law was very cooperative. She never made me feel that I am an outsider. My father- in-law always introduces me to people as daughter,” informs Parul 42 while husband Saurabh 43 who was sitting beside her at their office in Delhi. Parul a commerce graduate had five years work experience with Greenply Industries Limited (before the business split in the family) in brand building exercise at national and international level. Her experience in the area of brand management is now useful for Greenlam. “Saurabh pushed me into the business. He told me don’t waste your life by not doing anything. That boosted my confidence,” remembers Parul.
