Food and beverages business in India is growing at a speedy rate, from being the retail’s poor cousin it has evolved as a sector with a dominating edge. People today are more amenable to experimenting new and varied cuisines, which has helped in evolution of ‘global palates’ leading more brands and businesses investing in food and beverages. Growing at a CAGR of 10 per cent per year, food and beverages alone creates direct employment for 5.8 million people and contributes to a whopping Rs 22,400 crore by way of taxes to the Indian economy, says NRAI Foodservice Report. Indian Restaurant Congress has become an important platform for restaurant and food service brands to discuss and debate about the key trends. After doing six mega editions in Delhi, thought of capturing the regional markets. Building on its success, Franchise India replicated the platform in west India with the launch of Restaurant India on March 19 at Hotel Westin Pune. On the heels of these growing changes, today eating out is no more restricted to celebrations rather it is in line with more varied options, experience based dining trends, technological drive and food on the go, which found a new place in the emerging food trends.
