Kresna Graha Investama’s revenue increased nearly fivefold last year, while its net profit almost doubled. Thanks to a business transformation, Kresna is now more than just a securities company. The company was originally called PT Kresna Graha Sekurindo, which was founded in 2000 and dealt in securities brokerage, underwriting and investment management. Fifteen years later, the company set up a subsidiary named Kresna Creativenture, a digital business incubator.
“Ever since we set up our digital business, many people thought that we were no longer a securities company. We are still in the securities business, and we still do IPOs,” says
Michael Steven, president director of PT Kresna Graha Investama. As a securities company, Kresna has led several initial public offerings (IPOs), namely Sido Muncul (Rp870 billion) and Mitra Keluarga (Rp1.21 trillion), the latter being the largest IPO in the past seven years after Garuda Indonesia.
Basically, Kresna is engaged in three business lines: investment management, securities brokerage and securities underwriting, and technology and digital startups. As of last year, surprisingly, the digital business has contributed 70% to the company’s sales. “This first quarter of 2018, our digital business contributed 85% to our sales,” says Michael.
