Less talked about is the fact that Indonesia is also one of the largest exporters of fish and fishery products globally. Based on data from Statista.com, Indonesia exported crustaceans, including shrimp, frozen and fresh fish worth around $ 4.4 billion in 2019. However, the export value of fishery products from Indonesia has even greater potential with illegal fishing by foreign vessels still a challenge to the industry despite government efforts since it banned foreign fishing boats from Indonesian waters in 2014.
