Has The Popularity Of Value Investing Ruined Its Attractiveness?
When value investing was first introduced, arguably by the father of the investment style, Benjamin Graham, and later when Warren Buffett picked up where Graham left off, it can be argued that value investing was a relatively overlooked style. Indeed, one of the reasons why these two famous investors were able to outperform their peer groups (and establish an outstanding record for themselves while doing so) is because they were prepared to look under all the rocks and invest where the rest of the market was afraid to go.
What’s more, they were the only ones looking for and prepared to buy companies trading at a deep discount to book value. Today, however, there are thousands of investors following the same mentality. In addition, since companies’ financial information is easier to access than ever before, there is much more cash chasing fewer securities.

The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has introduced a consultation paper proposing a new investment product category aimed at addressing a specific market need. This proposed asset class would offer investment options that sit between mutual funds (MFS) and PMS, filling a gap and providing greater flexibility in portfolio management.
