As per Association of Mutual Funds of India reports, the Asset Under Management (AUM) of the Indian mutual fund industry has grown from 5.45 trillion as on August 31, 2008 to 25.20 trillion as on August 31, 2018, more than four fold increase in a span of 10 years. The total number of folios as on August 31, 2018 stood at 7.66 crore, while the number of folios under equity, ELSS and balanced schemes, wherein the maximum investment is from retail segment, stood at 6.41 crore.
