CHOOK YUK YNG: According to the latest job outlook survey we did, hirers foresee their peak recruitment period to be the first and second quarter of the year. Typically, the number of job advertisements and applications peak immediately after Chinese New Year each year. However, job seekers might need to manage their expectations in the current job market, given that there is stiffer competition now for every job advertised.
What questions should job seekers ask employers at interviews?
There should be two-way communication at a good interview session. This is a good opportunity for the interviewee to get valuable insights and show their strong interest in the job and company. Some questions the interviewee can consider asking are: “What skills and experiences would make an ideal candidate?”, “Can you share with me about the team that I’ll be working with?”, and “What is the next step in the hiring process?”
