It’s the 8 DAYS Chill Out special, and we’re hanging with Sheila Sim who’s so chill, she’s cooler than the ice-cream on your waffles. So take a chill pill and read on to find out how a self-professed “kancheong spider” unwinds.
"Cheeeers!" It’s only noon on a Friday and Sheila Sim is already clutching a drink, and languidly draped across a lavish couch that wouldn’t look out of place in Beyoncé’s home. Swathed in a dreamy low-cut couture confection, she kicks off her ballet flats ’cos she wants to “feel freer”. Her lithe form writhes around a heap of plush cushions with the seductiveness of a serpent honing in on its unsuspecting prey. There are probably hordes of guys who are envious of said sofa right now. When Sheila flashes her megawatt smile, she lights up the room so brightly that the tall drink of water across the dimmest of bars can spot her. Except that there are no hotties around today, not unless you count the cubicle rats stewing in the sweltering heat outside, peering in to the lobby of Sofitel So Singapore during this shoot. And the only thing that the 32-year-old star is flirting with is our photographer’s lens. But, boy, does the camera love her.
Doing nothing has never looked this glam — and it’s not surprising that Sheila makes it look so effortless. Lesser mortals can try their darndest at staging a #IWokeUpLikeThis shot and still look like they’d just duked it out with the bear from The Revenant. Truth be told, even Sheila didn’t wake up like this today — she’d just settled a car crisis (“My car tyres burst!”) and had zipped over to the shoot from the car workshop. But all those frazzled nerves disappear the moment she glides into the room at the luxury boutique hotel.
