Sharib Hashmi is the son of noted film journalist Z A Johar. He remembers attending the premieres of Parinda and Saajan as a kid. The glamour and the stardom felt magical to him. That’s when he decided to become an actor. After trying his hand at writing for TV, he caught a break when Danny Boyle selected him for a small role in Slumdog Millionaire (2008). That led to him being cast as one of the leads in the indie film Filmistan (2012). He thought he had made it big but sadly most of the films he signed afterwards failed to take off. The web series The Family Man and its sequel proved to be a second chance for him. He plays Talpade, who is a Watson of sorts to Manoj Bajpayee’s Holmes in the thriller. Presenting a straight-from-the-heart interview with the dynamic actor.
The Family Man 2 has turned out to be better than the first part...
I can’t describe what I’m feeling right now. I feel proud and fortunate to be an integral part of such an amazing show. The audience’s appreciation and love for the second season is unbelievable. I celebrated by binge watching the series with family and friends.
This is the first time such kind of success has come your way...
I’m on cloud nine right now. I won’t deny I had huge expectations from the second season. But the love and appreciation I’m receiving has gone way beyond my expectations.
And I can’t thank Raj and DK and Mukesh Chhabra enough for casting me as JK Talpade.
Has this success changed anything in your personal life?
It hasn’t changed anything in my personal life. But yes I’m getting more interesting offers post the success and I’m enjoying this phase.
Post the success of The Family Man 2, you must be looking for bigger and better roles.
