The Dynamic Fourth-generation Legacy-bearer of Bespoke Jewellery House, Thakorlal Hiralal’s Is Joined by His Philanthropic Wife for an Intimate Tale of Filial Bliss
Ensconced within a quiet lane off the bustling thoroughfare of SoBo, lies a warm and welcoming cozy household, where sun dappled tree branches hang over an outdoor terrace – the scene of HELLO!’s rendezvous with Pranay and Neha Mehta. The welcoming space is the perfect reflection for the hospitable duo this Mumbai winter’s morning as they welcome HELLO! into their private domain for a memorable glimpse into their jet-setting lives.
You’ve been married for 17 years now…
Neha Mehta: “I was a baby when I first met Pranay! Fresh out of the London School of Economics, having just done my Masters, I was hoping to stay on in London and work at NM Rothschild & Co. I went back to India in the summer of ’99 to finish my thesis and my mom (very subtly) asked me if I wanted to meet someone – I said no! (because my mother actually meant – great guy – let’s get you married). I was barely around for a few weeks and London was the only thing on my mind. She persisted, and like the good child, I said OK. We dated for a few months, Pranay was very persuasive and I was reluctant at first but slowly, my heart and head gave way and I said ‘yes’ on September 19, 1999. We were married a year and few months later in December 2000. Easily the best decision I have made till date. It was a big fat Gujju wedding and we enjoyed every minute of it. Pranay was, and still is, the easiest person I can talk to.”
Pranay Mehta: “Having gotten married in 2000, I keep joking that we are ‘marital millennials.’ We dated for about a year and a half, which culminated in the most memorable week of wedding festivities, the highlights of which were an Austin Powers themed party, an evening with Ustad Zakir Hussain and a performance by the Percussionists of India – it was very special!”
