What It's Really Like to Be a Hollywood Stylist

Diva tantrums? Fitting-room tears? Dressing the A-list for awards season is no easy task. We asked those in the know to spill their secrets…

What It's Really Like to Be a Hollywood Stylist

We’re right in the thick of awards season 2017, when weary Look staffers hole themselves up in the office in frenzied anticipation of who will be wearing the It dress of the night. And it’s not just that – it’s the details that count. The clutch bag? Who’s starting a new nail-colour trend? And that’s before we even get started on the actual award winners.

But what about the journey from dress selection to the actual event? Slaves to Instagram and Snap chat, celebs heavily document their awards preparation process. Potential Oscars leading lady Emma Stone has already revealed her pre-show eye mask essentials, while Eva Longoria loves to give fans a glimpse into the full day of work her team spend on her look.

The stars’ entourages must work their magic to ensure their clients top every best-dressed list (including Look’s, obviously), and insiders tell us it’s a hugely competitive job that comes with ‘enormous pressure’ and ‘extreme personal stress’.

Securing the Designers

All people are not made equal and the same applies to their dresses. Finding the outfit is not the starting point for most Hollywood stylists, as there’s a hierarchy when it comes to designer brands loaning out their best frocks and it’s based around whose been nominated for gongs.
