Four years after her Britney Spears style meltdown in which she donned crazy wigs, went on ugly Twitter rants and was arrested several times, former child star Amanda Bynes has finally spilled on what led to her downward spiral.

For starters, the 32-year-old actress says her role in 2006 rom-com She’s The Man was a trigger. “When the movie came out and I saw it I went into a deep depression for 4-6 months because I didn’t like how I looked when I was a boy,” says the star, who admits seeing herself with short hair and sideburns was “a super strange and out-of body experience. It just really put me into a funk.”
