For Ronan Keating and Harriet Scott, the insanely early starts that come with hosting their Magic breakfast radio show have been worth it – they’ve only gone and got the highest ratings in the station’s history! Yes, four years after they first started working together, the duo are celebrating the fact that they’re now one of the most listened-to programmes in the country.
While Harriet, 49, is a seasoned DJ, it’s been a change of direction for Ronan, 44, who previously made his name in Boyzone before forging his own successful solo career. Now he’s tearing up the airwaves with Harriet, as well as presenting The One Show.
Here, the pair celebrate their achievement and reveal how they really feel about the early starts, while Ronan tells us what the future holds for Boyzone…
Hi guys. Is it surreal to think you’ve achieved the highest ratings in Magic’s history?
Ronan: You never know what way a show’s going to go and if people are going to accept you, because you’re in people’s lives in a major way. You’re in their car, in their kitchen, in their shower, you’re in their life from six in the morning, which, as we know, is the time when people listen to radio the most. So you have an impact, and to have that… it’s an honour to broadcast.
What do you think is the secret to your success?
Ronan: Well, I think we’re honest and we both have thick skin, which is really important.
