She burst on to the TV scene as an entertainment presenter with shows like The Big Breakfast and Total Wipeout on her CV. But for presenter Amanda Byram, life’s all about trying something new and she couldn’t wait to get stuck into a big passion project when she joined the team of Channel 4’s Food Unwrapped. The 47-year-old, who has studied nutrition, is in her element as she gets to go on the road testing food.
“I’m like a kid in a sweet factory. It’s the best job ever,” she says.
Touring the UK is a far cry from her previous life in Los Angeles, where Amanda hosted hit reality shows such as The Swan and Paradise Hotel.
Here, the star, who has been married to Julian Okines since 2016, talks about rubbing shoulders with the stars in the US, why fate is to thank for her latest job and the reason she’s happy she met her husband later in life…
Hi Amanda. Food Unwrapped sounds like a dream job…
Getting to taste things is so brilliant. But the biggest fun about the show is that I’m really fascinated by food and nutrition. I love finding out what it’s made up of, what it does to our bodies and how stuff is made. I’m like a kid in a sweet factory. It’s the best job ever.
This is a bit of a new avenue for you after doing entertainment shows for years…
