Like most of us, Emilia Fox has been forced to spend a lot more time at home over the last year. As well as dealing with the challenge of homeschooling her 10-year-old daughter, Rose, the actress has taken the time to get stuck into home workouts as well as piano and Italian lessons.
Emilia, who split from partner Luc Chaudhary last summer, admits that it’s not been an easy year. Still, the actress has been determined to find the positives in the gloomy times and says the “silver lining” has been spending some quality time with Rose.
And Emilia is hoping her latest acting role will help bring us all a bit of joy.
The 46-year-old is starring in a new film adaptation of the Noël Coward play Blithe Spirit, alongside an all-star cast including Dame Judi Dench. The story follows the plight of a writer who enlists the help of a psychic medium to deal with his writer’s block, only to find she accidentally conjures his dead wife and creates a ghostly love triangle.
It’s great fun that Emilia says we could use right now. She adds, “After a strange, troubled year, I think people need good, light entertainment. Which is what I think Blithe Spirit was written for in 1941 – to give people much-needed light relief and a bit of an escape from reality.”
Hi Emilia. How have you coped over the last year?
