LILY COLLINS OPENS UP ABOUT LONG-DISTANCE RELATIONSHIPS AND THE MOMENT SHE REALISED SHE’D MADE IT

‘I TOTALLY FELT LIKE A FISH OUT OF WATER'

Her musician father Phil Collins may have helped to get her into the public eye, but it’s Lily Collins’ talent that has meant she has achieved longevity. She’s already made a name for herself in films such as Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil And Vile – where she plays the girlfriend of real-life serial killer Ted Bundy – and she put on an impressive performance as tragic Fantine in the BBC adaptation of Les Misérables.

Now she is the star of the new Netflix series Emily In Paris. Lily, 31, plays the titular character, who finds herself in a long-distance relationship when she moves from America to the French capital – something Lily understands only too well. While filming the show, Lily had to be away from her own partner, director Charlie McDowell, 36.

But the couple didn’t let a little thing like distance get in the way of romance, as they recently announced their engagement.

Here, Lily chats about her love for Paris, her relationship with fame and what made her feel like a fish out of water...

At the start of the series, your character Emily is in a long-distance relationship. That’s something you can relate to, right?

Yeah, sure. I’ve been in a long-distance relationship before. I think most people in this industry have.

Your partner, Charlie McDowell, surprised you by proposing last month. It seems like things are going well for you two…

I’m very happy right now. It’s been great.
