Sam Faiers has come a long way since her ultra-glam The Only Way Is Essex days. Now a mum to two little ones, Paul, four, and Rosie, two, her focus has shifted from fake tan and on-screen feuds to early wake-ups and snatched moments of “me time”.
But while she appears the perfect yummy mummy, Sam’s journey into motherhood hasn’t been plain sailing – she recently opened up about her secret battle with hormonal acne, which began after she stopped breastfeeding Rosie.
Now in the last year of her twenties, Sam is determined to celebrate her 30th birthday with a flawless complexion. Here, the star tells us about entering a new decade and how she now has the confidence to go filter-free...
Sam, you’ve bravely opened up on social media about your acne struggles. Tell us about it…
I got adult acne after finishing breastfeeding my daughter Rosie. I had bad breakouts and couldn’t keep them under control. Some weeks my skin was a bit more tame but then the acne would come back. It was like a vicious circle. I’ve been battling it for more than two years.
That must have knocked your confidence…
Yeah, I never wanted to leave the house. I had to put on thick foundation and when I was filming I was like, “I don’t want to show this side of my face.” Some days I didn’t even want to go out. When I was talking to people I thought they were all looking at my skin.
Your skin looks perfect now…
