Joe Wicks had us sweating, panting and jumping for joy in our living rooms this year because of his addictive PE sessions on YouTube. So we were over the moon when the 35-year-old fitness expert, who donated the proceeds from his workouts to the NHS, was awarded an MBE for his services to fitness and charity during the pandemic.
“I’ve done this through my passion for health and helping people, so it’s something I am proud of,” he tells us.
When he’s not squatting or smashing burpees, Joe, who is married to Rosie, 30, is a doting dad to daughter Indie, two, and 10-month-old son Marley.
And he tells us during our chat that little Indie has already caught the fitness bug.
“She came up to me the other day when I was working out and asked if she could do some exercise,” he says.
“She’ll do a few squats, runs about and does a few press-ups, but we are role-modeling so the more you can do in front of them, the better.”
Press-ups at the age of two? “They’re not proper press-ups!” he corrects us.
Here, Joe, who is taking part in a 24-hour fitness marathon for Children In Need, talks expanding his family, coping with down days and explains why being a father-of-two is a juggling act…
Congratulations on the MBE, Joe! Where were you when you found out?
