Celebrities aren’t so different from us really... take Sarah Michelle Gellar. When we catch up with the actress from her home in Los Angeles, we discover she’s been doing pretty much the same as everyone in lockdown – bickering with her husband, slobbing in leisurewear and trying to keep her kids busy with boxset binges.
There are, however, just a couple of minor differences we can discern. Firstly, the hubby getting under her feet is A-list actor Freddie Prinze Jr, the other half of one of Hollywood’s premier power couples. Oh, and the TV retrospective she’s been treating her eldest child to is Buffy The Vampire Slayer – the iconic 90s show that shot Sarah to stardom.
“My daughter had been asking about it for a while,” Sarah says of her daughter Charlotte, 11 this week. “I haven’t watched it in years so I had to ask a couple of my friends, who remember stuff better than I do, whether she would be ready for it.
“We felt the high school years were appropriate, but I don’t think she’s ready for the rest of it yet,” the star – who is also mum to son Rocky, who turns eight this month – adds. “So we’ll see how well she takes it when she finds out she’s going to have to wait for the rest. I’m not sure how well that’s going to go down!”
Here, Sarah, 43, talks about her family life in lockdown and the secret to her fabulous figure...
What has it been like watching Buffy The Vampire Slayer after all this time?
I’m so proud of it. What’s amazing about the show is that it takes some distance from it to really understand the impact that it had. Watching it again now, I realise just how relevant it still is and how ahead of its time it was.
