NEW COME REMMA CORRIN TELLS OK! HOW SHE RESEARCHED THE ROLE OF PRINCESS DIANA AND WHAT IT WAS LIKE PLAYING SOMEONE WHO MEANS SO MUCH TO SO MANY PEOPLE

‘WEARING THE DIANA WEDDING DRESS WAS TERRIFYING'
Emma Corrin may be an unfamiliar face to us at the moment, but all that’s about to change. This Sunday, the 24-year-old will hit our screens as Princess Diana in the hotly anticipated new series of The Crown. And we have a feeling life for the Kent-born actress will never be the same again.

“It’s more and more strange as it gets closer to it,” she admits of taking on the iconic role. “I’m very scared of losing my anonymity. I think I’ve taken it for granted up until this point and maybe thought of fame as quite a fun, silly thing that would accompany this amazing job I’m very lucky to have.”

Following small parts in ITV’s Grantchester and the film Misbehaviour, which Emma starred in alongside Keira Knightley, The Crown is set to be the Cambridge graduate’s breakthrough role, and the show’s writer, Peter Morgan, says he was “immediately captivated” by her.

“Emma is a brilliant talent,” he gushes. “As well as having the innocence and beauty of a young Diana, she also has, in abundance, the range and complexity to portray an extraordinary woman who went from anonymous teenager to becoming the most iconic woman of her generation.”

Here, the London-based star tells us why she thinks it’s so important that Diana’s eating disorder was included in the show and how it felt to put on a version of her famous wedding dress…

Hi Emma. What does Diana mean to you? You must be too young to remember the iconic royal wedding…

Yes, I think I was about three years old when Diana died, so I don’t have any living memory of her being alive. In a way, I think that helped.
