Can You Really Pull It Off?

Most women have, at one point or another, felt the need for a ‘Friend With Benefits’. Either you have come out of a disastrous long-term relationship, or you are too busy with work, or are still waiting for love to strike. But no, you haven’t taken vows of chastity either, have you? The FWB relationship stems from the need for carefree, uncomplicated sex minus commitment. However, when some of us still get jealous when our bestie goes out for pizza with someone other than us, feelings can easily slip into the FWB scenario and complicate things badly.

In a recent study conducted, it emerged that 70% of respondents or their FWB had ended up getting their feelings hurt. A whopping 91% said that the person with hurt feelings wanted more from the relationship. While only 6% had been part of FWB relationships which went on to become permanent, the other arrangements didn’t last because one person hankered after permanency while the other didn’t want it. Fact is, while the FWB arrangement sounds like having the best of both worlds, it can and often does end up causing emotional upsets and hurt feelings. Yet, if you must give it a shot, a few words of advice…
