Christie Clark and Austin Peck Couldn’t Be More Thrilled About Their DAYS Returns
Soap Opera Digest: When were you first approached about coming back to play Carrie again?
Christie Clark: I guess the end of May or early June.
Digest: What was your reaction?
Clark: I had a really big trip planned, and originally they wanted me to come at a time that was during my trip — which was like a three-month, summer-long vacation with the kids —so I couldn’t initially do it, and then we adjusted slightly and we made it work, and I’m thrilled to bits!
Digest: How did the show present it to you in terms of the storyline or what they hoped to do with Carrie this time around?
Clark: Well, the exciting bit for me was — well, two things — three things! The first was working finally with Leann Hunley [Anna]. I think when I first came on in 1986, she was just leaving. So, we maybe worked together two or three episodes, and that’s always been something in my mind, the fact that her mom kind of abandoned her and was out having this glamorous life, you know? And she was raised, really, by two other people, Marlena and John — and then Roman came back into the picture — but really, her real, core parents weren’t there. I always thought that that was something that would be very interesting to delve into. So Leann Hunley was one of the bright things that was pulling me to it. Also, to work again with Austin Peck. And I heard that everybody else from 30 years ago that I worked with pretty much all my life — Mary Beth [Evans; Kayla] and Stephen Nichols [Steve] who I adore — they’re all there, so it was a big reunion of sorts.
Digest: When you were written out in 2012, did you expect that the door may be open for you to come back? How did you reconcile with that back then?
