Jim suspected his wife was stealing drugs from the hospital where she worked. Police say she was using them to kill him
A Husband Poisoned, A Wife Accused - Killer Urse?

On the surface they seemed to have it all. Jim Cappello, 37, was a successful private investigator with his own firm. Marjorie “Nikki” Cappello, 32, was a well-respected critical-care nurse. Married for eight years, they were parents to a bright, beautiful little girl and had been excitedly planning renovations to the Huntsville, Alabama, home they’d recently purchased.

But beneath the veneer of their seemingly perfect suburban life was a darkness few beyond Jim’s immediate family suspected. “He would call and confide in me,” says Jim’s older sister Jamie Weast. “Jim told me that if he was ever found dead, it was because his wife did it.”

Chillingly, police say Jim’s declaration to his sister came true. On September 21, 2018, Nikki filed a missing person report for Jim after co-workers called to say he had not shown up for work. When police arrived at the Cappello home later that day they found Jim’s car in the driveway, but Nikki would not allow them to search the garage.

The next day Huntsville police returned with a warrant and searched the garage, finding Jim’s decomposing body inside. Nikki was arrested for murder, and two days later she posted a $135,000 bond. Now 34, she has pleaded not guilty and is awaiting trial, slated for 2021.
