His desk may be clutter free, but the shelves and walls of Dave Sedgwick’s studio are full of inspiration

One-Man Show

StudioDBD launched in 2011 when I started working alone. Originally, I shared office space on one of the lower floors within the building, but about a year ago I moved upstairs to a slightly larger space where I currently work.

The building is an old textile mill in Manchester. I’m based close to the university area, which is strange because I studied here about 20 years ago and now I can see my old building from my studio window. I like being here because it’s just a little bit out of the main creative hub of Manchester. It’s nice to be able to head over that way for meetings and socialising without it feeling like work. There’s also a good buzz in the building: there are lots of creatives, artists, musicians and illustrators based here.
