Hold on to Your Seats as Speed Finds Out More About Jasmine and All the Things She’s Been Up to Lately, Incl Uding Working for Digital Content, Mastering the Stick, Havi Ng a New Dog, and Enjoying Her Blooming Romance.
The last time we talked to Jasmine Curtis-Smith was at the cover shoot of Speed’s June 2015 issue. Back then, she was still a bashful young lady who is slowly but surely figuring out what she wants to do in life.
It may seem like only yesterday, but actually those two years have been enough for Jasmine to shift gears and go into overdrive. In place of the shy young lady is a more confident woman who has a clear vision of where she’s headed and what she’s after.
RIGHT TURN
The transition from working on TV to digital—and balancing both— has been one of the major changes in Jasmine’s life, work-wise. “I started doing work for more digital content,” said Jasmine, referring to the Web series Forever Sucks, where she plays a vampire call center agent trying to fit in and seem human in present day.
How is working for a TV series different from acting for the Web?
Both are very tight with their scheduling pero mas may time kami na himayin ‘yung eksena [kapag Web series]. Kasi shorter ‘yung pinapalabas namin per episode compared to a daily teleserye. [We have] more time to collaborate, to be more creative, and to really give more personal attachment to our characters.
[For the viewers,] it’s not something you have to look forward to every day. It’s something you can binge on or watch at your convenience and then get back to it whenever you want. So, you’ll never really miss out on our content. Whereas kung TV, [if] you miss one episode, hassle. Or [if] you miss two kasi traffic pag-uwi mo, kailangan mag-log in ka pa sa portal para makapanood ulit.
