Making things easier for the marvel crowd

Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite

It’s been a long old time since we last saw a Marvel Vs Capcom fighting game, and a lot has changed since 2011. For one thing, the size and popularity of all things Marvel, thanks to the cinematic universe, means you can’t move without a new TV show or superhero blockbuster being announced, and there are millions of new Marvel fans out there to impress – ones who might not know fighting games very well. MvC might have been a niche, complicated arcade fighter once, but the series has been given a massive overhaul for Infinity.

Where once there was a complicated, deep brawler with teams of three and ridiculous combos that could leave you stuck doing nothing for 20 seconds while you took a battering, there now stands a much leaner prospect with teams of two for smoother switching, and Infinity Stone power-ups. With a much simpler control scheme, this fighter is designed with beginners in mind – but just because it’s easy to get into doesn’t mean it’s shallow. With so many character and stone combinations there’s a lot of strategic depth and impressive combo strings for die-hard fans to tuck into.

Mega merge

The fact that the Marvel universe has crossed over with Mega Man’s universe rather than any other Capcom series feels rather weird, but, as we learned in our recent hands-on time with the title, somehow it works. Everyone is familiar with Marvel, but of all the games in Capcom’s utility belt Mega Man is a relative unknown. Sure, he used to be popular, but he looks like a child’s cartoon when squaring up next to Iron Man. The Mega Man universe might not have the strength to stand up on its own, but it works wonderfully when merged with Marvel’s most famous locations. The roads of Abel City merge into Asgard to create Xgard as part of this new shared dimension.
