The daughter of a diplomat and a lawyer, both Dutch, Judith Sciarone was born in The Netherlands and raised in Paris.
Obsessed with food and the art of fine dining from infancy, she fell in love with wine during a stint in San Francisco in 2005. Following that, Judith returned to France to earn her MSc in wine business in Dijon, Burgundy. Further down the road, she found herself indulging in seafood from Chesapeake Bay on the northeastern coast of the US and working for a well-established importer. After the 2008 recession, Judith moved back to Paris where she was fortunate to manage, consecutively, a wine shop, a restaurant and a wine bar. Subsequently, seeking a challenge and a radically different lifestyle, she ventured out to India. Judith has been the resident sommelier at The Claridges Hotel, New Delhi, “for a little over two fantastic years now” she tells Reva K Singh, speaking about her life and work as a sommelier.
