Six Of The Best Wedding Cakes
Yorkshire Life|June 2018

For some reason, weddings have been on everyone’s mind recently.

Six Of The Best Wedding Cakes

It might have something to do with a certain Mr and Mrs Harry Windsor who (did you hear about this?) were married in the chapel at Windsor Castle last month. No expense was spared – unlike my wedding. For example, we didn’t have snipers (although a few people were a bit catty about the bridesmaids’ dresses. Do they count?). Then there was the cake. We had a perfectly serviceable vanilla sponge, I seem to remember. Harry and Meghan, however, engaged Claire Ptak, owner of the London-based Violet Bakery ‘to create a lemon elderflower cake that will incorporate the bright flavours of spring’. Which sounds nice although, personally, I’d have made it into a novelty shape, too – feel free to fill in your own right royal suggestions – so can’t help thinking that Claire really missed a trick with that one.

But it did get us thinking. Who designs the best wedding cakes in Yorkshire? Answer: lots of people. Here are just six of them.
