Direction Magazine’s Matthew Murray believes he was miraculously healed after doctors gave him just three hours to live. Now his incredible story is heading into print…
When Matthew Murray contracted malaria and saw all of his major organs go into failure, he and his family feared the worst. With half of his blood stream filled with the deadly parasite and his body rejecting medication, his wife Becky was told by doctors to prepare for the worst and that her husband could be dead within three hours.
It was after receiving that news that she turned to social media, and the Murrays believe a viral prayer campaign saved Matthew’s life as Christians across the world petitioned heaven to save him.
News of his sickness reached Elim and the then General Superintendent John Glass sent out several e-mails to the Movement’s ministers. Churches throughout the UK responded.
“I believe I’d be dead if it wasn’t for God’s people,” says Matthew, who is now 30. “When I regained consciousness I had more than 2,000 messages on my phone from Christians from all over the world. It seemed as if everyone was praying.
“It didn’t shock me that my friends and family were praying, but I didn’t expect complete strangers in obscure nations to be praying too.
