Life isn’t always easy but the word of god can be our anchor in tough times.
I’m writing this in the week I returned to work after eight months off, having had an amazing recovery from brain surgery. I can testify to the following verse: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future,” (Jeremiah 29:11).
So, a quick bit of background to my 33-year fight to ‘live life to the full’ as promised in John 10:10. I’m 44 now, and at the age often I had chronic renal failure which led to two kidney transplants; one failed after three years and one is still going strong! Then in 2003 I was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin lymphoma which led to 18 months of chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Again, with God’s help, I fought that battle and won.
Despite all this and having missed out on my education due to ill health, I’ve lived a full life. I work as an auxiliary nurse in Rookwood Hospital, and also voluntarily with the Ospreys wheelchair rugby team. Although I like to travel as much as possible, much of my time is spent sowing into my friends and family, and I believe this has helped me during these challenges.
