The Kanchi Kailasanathar Temple

The Kanchi Kailasanathar Temple is a very ancient temple and is located on the banks of the Vegavathy River in the city of Kanchipuram in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Kanchipuram is considered to be a holy land which once had more a thousand temples! This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and was built by the great Pallava King Narasimhavarman II between 680 AD - 705 AD. Lord Shiva is worshipped as Lord Kailasanathar in this temple. The architecture of this temple is amazing and the whole temple has been designed to emulate Mount

Kailasa, the highly celebrated home of Lord Shiva! The rare craftsmanship and dexterity of the sculptors of the Pallava dynasty can be seen in this temple.This temple is currently being maintained by the Archaeological Society of India.
