A Michelin Experience

A SIMPLE THING LIKE HAND PLACEMENT AT A DINNER TABLE CAN MAKE YOU A FINE DINING PARIAH, BUT FEAR NOT AS CORRETTA MEMUSI HAS YOUR BACK WHEN IT COMES TO ETIQUETTE RULES.

A Michelin Experience

I AM HOSTING MY BOSSES FOR DINNER AT MY HOUSE. ANY TIPS ON SERVING FOOD?

Use your left hand to clear plates from the table then transfer them to the right before you take them back to the kitchen. While you’re clearing the dishes, don’t stack the plates in front of your bosses. While serving food – if this is not done at the table – or clearing dishes, carry one plate in each hand.

SHOULD I CUT UP ALL MY FOOD AT THE START OF THE MEAL THEN USE MY FORK TO EAT?

Avoid this practise at all costs. This is an American tradition that will never see the light of day in countries across Europe. For example, when eating steak, only cut the piece that you plan to eat. Otherwise, you’ll look like you’re about to feed a baby when you cut up all your food at once.
