If you can see soapbox cars careering along the seafront or men dancing down the street in crazy fancy dress, it can mean only one thing – carnival season!
Cromer Carnival
When is carnival week?
August 12 to Friday August 18.
What do I need to know?
Avoid driving into the town on carnival day. Roads are closed and parking spaces are at a premium. Use the bus, train or the park and ride service.
When is the procession?
August 16. The main procession, led by the revving engines of a motorbike cavalcade, starts at 6.45pm, but get there early as the streets are packed with crowds lining the route. Carnival day kicks off with a breathtaking display by the Red Arrows at 11am, over the sea.
What are the three must-do events during carnival week?
The annual carnival car boot is on August 12 on the Carnival Field, on Runton Road. Root around for some great bargains then enjoy the programme of entertainment, from dog agility and the Cromer Carnival Bake-Off competition to the craft fair and mini beer and cider festival.
The Soapbox Derby on August 6, at 11.30am, is always a spectacle and promises plenty of laughs as competitors race along the Runton Road.
