Early in the morning of Sunday 18 January 1981, dozens of black youths were enjoying a party at 439 New Cross Road in south-east London, when a fire ripped through the three-storey house.
Many who were there believe the blaze was started deliberately as a racist hate crime – yet, despite the deaths of 13 people, the police never charged anyone.
