Kris Marshall’s quirky detective is ready for romance…
Love is in the air when we return to Death in Paradise this week. At the end of the last series we saw scatty detective Humphrey Goodman bump into an old friend, Martha, on the island, and now she’s back to visit. And there's definitely chemistry…
‘It might be the start of something cool, but it’s very much the green shoots of a relationship,’ says Kris Marshall, who plays Humphrey. ‘Nothing is straightforward with Humphrey. He’s awkward and very good at making a mess of stuff, so there will be many ups and downs. But he’s actually a bit of a catch.’
HIDDEN TALENT
We’re used to hapless Humphrey being a klutz, but Marshall believes there’s a secret smooth-talker hidden within. ‘Humphrey’s got a lot of love to give and he’s fun in a relationship – you’ll get to see that,’ he smiles.
