NEW DRAMA

The Time Traveler’s Wife

Monday, 9pm, Sky Atlantic

Based on the bestselling novel by Audrey Niffenegger, Sky Atlantic’s sweeping romance The Time Traveler’s Wife tells the tale of Clare Abshire (Rose Leslie) and Henry DeTamble (Theo James), a man born with a paranormal genetic disorder that means he randomly finds himself transported through time.

Leaving just a pile of clothes behind when he disappears into thin air, it can be days, weeks or even months until Henry returns. Then one day he meets Clare in the library where he works. Although he’s never seen her before, she claims to have known him all her life. What is the secret of their magical love story?

Adapted by Doctor Who and Sherlock showrunner Steven Moffat, the six-part drama also stars Desmin Borges as Gomez, one of Clare’s best friends, and Natasha Lopez as Charisse, Gomez’s longsuffering girlfriend.

We caught up with Game of Thrones star Leslie, 35, and Sanditon’s James, 37, to find out more about the series…

What appealed to you about telling this story?

James It’s a love story with a very finite nature to it, which really appealed. The story is a comedic tragedy. Because of Henry’s condition, his relationship with Clare is tinged with the possibility of everything ending very quickly. They’re always being ripped apart, which is such an interesting concept.
