Ellsworth ‘Bumpy’ Johnson may not be as famous as Al Capone or Bugsy Siegel, but the African-American crime boss was one of the most notorious gangsters of the 1960s.
This week, Bumpy is brought to life in a new STARZPLAY series, Godfather of Harlem, starring Forest Whitaker.
Set in 1963, the 10-part series begins with Bumpy returning from a long stint in Alcatraz to find that the Harlem neighbourhood he once controlled is now being run by the Italian Mob.
