She tries to take her own life as she struggles to cope with son Shakil’s murder

Carmel Kazemi probably thought life couldn’t get any worse when she discovered that ‘boyfriend’ Max Branning had led her a merry dance. But nothing can compare to the pain she’s feeling this week – her beloved son Shakil is gone; knifed to death in a senseless act of violence. ‘Carmel is completely lost,’ Bonnie Langford, who plays the griefstricken mum, tells us. ‘She loved Shaki so much. He was her baby, and she feels this huge guilt because she was away at the time of the crime, having a great time.’
