Hollywood star Amy Adams on playing a troubled journalist hunting a serial killer in her new thriller

Dark And Dangerous...
Amy Adams may have made her big breakthrough as Disney princess Giselle in 2007 film Enchanted, but there’s nothing romantic about her harrowing role in Sky Atlantic’s new US drama Sharp Objects.

Based on the debut novel by Gone Girl author Gillian Flynn, the eightpart thriller sees Amy play Camille Preaker, an alcoholic, St Louis based newspaper reporter with a history of psychological issues.

When a young girl is murdered, and another disappears, in her small hometown in Missouri, Camille is sent to report on the case. But she finds herself haunted by her past, including the death of her sister in mysterious circumstances, and soon starts to spiral out of control.

Co-starring Patricia Clarkson (House of Cards, Six Feet Under) as Camille’s eccentric mother Adora, and Eliza Scanlen (Home and Away) as her teenage half-sister Amma, the drama is directed by Jean-Marc Vallée, who was also at the helm of Big Little Lies.
