Weatherfield hasn’t been the kindest place to Ali Neeson. Arriving in 2018, he was a twinkly-eyed medic with a bright future. Two years on, he’s a recovering diazepam addict with a broken heart and a bad haircut.

This week, there’s more misery in store for Michelle Connor’s lad when Gary makes him pay for his barbershop bunk-up with Maria.

Technically speaking, it’s not Gary who dishes out the punishment but Rick’s former sidekick Sharon – she who looks like an extra from Prisoner: Cell Block H. Gary gives her Rick’s old list of loan-shark clients, in return for her teaching Ali a lesson.
