ROCK TILL WE DROP

NEW TUE / BBC2 / 9PM (NOT WALES) / EP 1 of 4 / ENTERTAINMENT

You’re never too old to chase your dreams – and BBC2’s Rock Till We Drop is all set to prove it!

The new talent show follows Spandau Ballet’s Martin Kemp and award-winning grime artist Lady Leshurr as they each put together a band of musicians good enough to perform in front of 65,000 people on the main stage at the iconic Isle of Wight Festival. But there’s a twist – all the band members are aged 64 or over!

Here, Martin, 60, and Lady Leshurr, 34, tell us more…

Why did you want to get involved in the series?

MARTIN This was one of the most exciting things I’ve experienced. It’s the stuff dreams are made of… just when you think life has passed you by, an opportunity like this comes along. To be able to give these band members a second chance, a moment they’ve always dreamt of, on one of the biggest festival stages in Britain, is something I’ll never forget. LADY LESHURR I always love being a part of something that’s going to shift cultural perception. In my experience, I’ve found the music industry to be ageist at times, so it’s refreshing that there’s now a TV show where the older generation get an opportunity to showcase their talent and prove that they still have what it takes.

How did you go about choosing your bands?
