Leanne’s new life

The grieving mum sees a future with Nick and Sam

The past 12 months have been a living nightmare for Leanne. Devastated by the loss of young son Oliver, she was then thrust into the murky world of drug-dealing when elder son Simon was groomed by gangster Harvey, and subsequently risked herself and her family’s lives by working with the police to get the violent menace sent down.

Although the grieving mum will never get over Oliver’s death, there is at least some calm after these two devastating storms as she welcomes stepson Sam into her life and provides rich terrain for his relationship with Nick to flourish, even allowing the lad to make Oliver’s bedroom his own.

‘Leanne realises, having lost her own son, how important Sam is to Nick and how supportive Nick was in bringing up someone else’s child,’ star Jane Danson tells us.

‘There’s a beautiful scene coming up where she says to Nick, “I will get sad sometimes and need to be on my own, but it doesn’t mean I can’t support you and let you have the life you deserve.”’

Nick is moved by Leanne’s support, and decides to surprise her with a romantic night away.

As the longterm couple reconnect, could wedding bells soon be ringing?
