A YEAR FOLLOWING THE 1D BREAKOUT STAR’S SOLO RECORDING DEAL, HARRY STYLES HAS PAVED A NEW DIRECTION FOR HIMSELF WITH HIS SELF-TITLED DEBUT RECORD – WE BREAK DOWN THE TRACKS.
‘Meet Me In The Hallway’
As what any first track on an album should do, harry sets the theme for the record – lost love. reminiscent of pink Floyd, his dreamy vocals are accompanied by finger-picked guitar tones and shimmery synths while he pleads to an ex for their return “Just let me know, i’ll be at the door / hoping you’ll come around / Just let me know, i’ll be on the floor / maybe we’ll work it out”.
‘Sign Of The Times’
You’d be hard-pressed to find someone who hasn’t already heard this one over the airwaves, but what many may not know is the meaning behind it. revealing that the pop-rock ditty is inspired by the “state of the world right now”, the former 1D member muses melancholy as he “welcomes us to the final show”. Although it delivers a sombre message, choosing this as his debut single shows just how much he’s matured since his boyband days, and how he’s unafraid to be an open book when it comes to music.
