Q Have you noticed a change in the Bake Off contestants this year?

A Paul A lot of young people are picking up baking now, which is reflected in the tent. They were all very keen to learn, especially the younger ones – they get better every week as they pick up little nuggets to improve.

Prue There’s a trend going on to do companionable, nice, old-fashioned things. Think of the number of clubs there are now for things like embroidery and potting – it’s all back in fashion.
