During July to October 1940 the skies over southern England screeched with Spitfires and Hurricanes in combat with the German Luftwaffe. The British aircrews and their allies defended the UK coastline from a sustained bombing campaign by Nazi Germany.
This year marks the 80th anniversary of the history-defining battle, which then Prime Minister Winston Churchill immortalized in a stirring speech with the words ‘Never was so much owed by so many to so few.’
