A fresh wind of change is blowing through London’s Poplar as the nuns and midwives return for the eighth series of Call the Midwife. It’s 1964 and styles are
shifting, so it’s out with the old midwifery bags and in with the new. There are also some new faces in the shape of nuns Sister Frances (Ella Bruccoleri) and Sister Hilda (Home Fires’ Fenella Woolgar), who made their debut at Christmas.
