Poplar in the 1960s saw lots of medical advances, and midwife Trixie Franklin is thrilled to be getting involved in a new smear-test screening programme to detect the early signs of cervical cancer.
‘This year is the 10th anniversary of Jade Goody’s death from cervical cancer,’ says Helen George, who plays Trixie. ‘There should be another push for women to go for smear tests.’
