Charlize Theron: Why I'm Raising My Son As A Girl

There have been questions around her eldest child Jackson’s gender for years, but Charlize Theron has now revealed that her seven-year-old is transgender.

“Yes, I thought she was a boy, too,” Charlize says. “Until she looked at me when she was three years old and said, ‘I am not a boy!’”

Jackson has worn skirts and dresses and had her hair done in long braids ever since, with the actress, 43, determined to embrace her child’s choice – and do “everything in my power” for her to have the right to choose her identity. “My job as a parent is to celebrate them and to love them and to make sure they have everything they need in order to be what they want to be,” Charlize insists.
