The opening up of new markets in India, China and most of Asia, along with the rising use of network technology has added billions of new consumers in recent years. E-commerce platforms like Amazon and Alibaba have become household names with their vast reach and reliability. In addition, the proliferation of personal smartphones has made shopping easier than ever, allowing consumers to shop on the go and to make use of a host of applications to make their shopping experience more positive. In this regard, the influencing and informational capacity of technology in consumer behaviour is an area where technology can be a game-changer.
