If to snooze or not to snooze is the question, we tell you why the early bird catches the worm. (Or does it really?)

Why You Should Be A Morning Person!

It’s pretty normal to want to be as successful as the likes of Elon Musk or Mark Zuckerberg. And you may have read that they’re both fond of waking up early. Usually, that’s what these ‘all about-the-hustle’ type of personalities do. But is there really a connection between waking up at the crack of dawn and winning at work, especially when you’re not even a morning person?

We’ve heard it before: to be successful, get out of bed early. Apple CEO Tim Cook gets up at 3.45am, Fiat CEO, Sergio Marchionne at 3.30am, and Richard Branson at 5.45am— and, as we know, ‘the early bird catches the worm’. But, in the phrase, correlation isn’t technically causation. Umm what? Basically, this means that just because you see a connection or a mutual relationship between two factors, it doesn’t necessarily mean that one causes the other. The most important component of creating a successful morning routine is having a real reason to get up in the first place. If you’re waking up early because your favourite hustler is doing it, you’re doing it wrong.

Think about it: you’re not going to benefit by merely being up and about at the crack of dawn. It’s what you do during this time that makes all the difference in your productivity. So, think again. Here are the definite benefits of waking up early...

What if you’re just not a morning person, but want to be successful?

It’s estimated that about 50 percent of the population isn’t strictly morning- or evening-oriented, but fall somewhere in the middle.
